O escocês naturalizado norte-americano Alexander Graham Bell provavelmente vislumbrou o impacto que sua maior invenção - o telefone - teria sobre a humanidade. Mas ele dificilmente imaginou as marcas profundas que o aparelho deixaria na cultura popular.
O telefone e seu universo são temas freqüentes no cinema e na música. Na música brasileira, em especial, o aparelho entrou pra história como o tema do primeiro samba gravado ("Pelo telefone", de Donga).
